 What is Bodywork?

The body is a collection of intelligent systems, each with a particular structure and function. The structural integrity of each system supports its function. As life is lived in a body, factors around and within us compromise and impair function. Bodywork helps the body release restriction and restore function. Taking into consideration the intricacies of each system, my role as a bodyworker is to listen and feel where the body needs more movement or more stability and work with the individual to create those changes. Bodywork supports physical, mental, emotional and energetic health and brings about a better state of being.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

The lymph system is part of the immune and circulatory system and plays a large role in maintaining the fluid balance of the body. It is comprised of lymph fluid that flows through vessels to groups of lymph nodes that filter out waste for excretion. Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps direct the flow of lymph fluid. This work stimulates fluid flow, reduces swelling and inflammation and can help relieve pain.

Manual lymphatic drainage is suggested for those with

acute injury

recovering post-surgery

autoimmune disease

mold illness

fatigue

gut issues and

chronic lymphedema

Biodynamic

Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle modality that can create deep coherence in the body. The work orients towards the tissues and fluids of the body and the inherent, subtle rhythms revealed through them. As we tune into these rhythms, they can become more clear and expressive, bringing health to the forefront. This work tends to be deeply relaxing and can help immensely with nervous system regulation.

It’s called “craniosacral” because the cranium (skull) down the spine to the sacrum contains vital structures: the brain and the spinal cord. We use these structures as an orienting place. By tuning to the central nervous system, we can in turn listen to the whole body and the rhythms being expressed through it. This is also why we call it “biodynamic”, it’s the movement (dyna) of life (bio).

Here are some examples of why someone might seek out Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy:

Headaches/Migraines

Traumatic Brain Injury

Recent Dental Work

Chronic Pain

Jaw Pain

Spinal Cord Injury

PTSD

Post Surgical Work

Receiving body post-surgery expedites healing, reduces swelling and scar tissue formation as well as improving surgery results. These sessions intend to decrease swelling and inflammation, creating a healthier environment for cells to heal in. Post-op work also helps to decrease scar formation and decrease tension held throughout the entire body. I recommend coming in for at least three sessions after most surgeries to allow the effectiveness of the treatments to accumulate and create lasting change.

Recommended for both medical and aesthetic surgery.

Please check with your doctor before scheduling a session.

Oncology Massage

Oncology Sessions

Intended for those living with or in treatment for cancer. Cancer itself takes a heavy toll on the body and cancer treatment often brings many more complications. Receiving massage with cancer,  in treatment for cancer or dealing with the aftermath of treatment is safe with a qualified practitioner. This work can improve many side effects of both cancer and cancer treatment, such as fatigue, nausea, depression, anxiety as well as prevent chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. It also helps to bring life and fluidity back to radiated tissue and create coherence throughout the body. Thorough intake to ensure safety and comfort during sessions.
